A formal meeting of the working group on WTO opened in Geneva
Today in Geneva (Switzerland) a formal meeting of the working group on Russia's accession to the WTO opens. As reported by "Georgia-News", it is expected that during the day, or on Friday, the working group can approve documents on Russia's accession to the international structure. We are also talking about the report of the Working Group and the commitments on access of goods and services on market.
As the head of the Russian delegation, director of the Department of Trade Negotiations Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Medvedkov explained in an interview, after the approval of the documents they will be handed over to the Ministerial Conference. It is planned for the period from 15 to 17 December. During the conference, the ministers of WTO member countries have to either agree or disagree with these recommendations, said Medvedkov.
In case of agreement, Russia will only have to ratify these documents. If this happens, 30 days after the ratification, Russia finally becomes a full member of this international organization.
It is worth mentioning that Russia is trying to become a WTO member since 1993.
