Bakradze: Georgia is very close to NATO accession
According to the head of Georgian Parliament David Bakradze, Georgia has never been so close to NATO accession as it is now. As reported by the GHN, Bakradze said this today at a joint press briefing with Rasmussen in the Parliament of Georgia.
"North Atlantic Council meeting is an important event. Annual Meeting of the Council in partner country always reflects the special relationship that exists between NATO and partner countries. This is the second time when North Atlantic Council conducts its visiting session in Georgia. For us, the crucial fact is that after the summit in Bucharest, we can say that today Georgia is much closer to NATO accession than ever. Georgia is closer to NATO than even before the summit in Bucharest three years ago", said Bakradze, adding that it is essential to continue the process of rapprochement with the West.
"Obviously, the ultimate goal of this approach is Georgia's accession into NATO, it is the execution of the task that was clearly set at the summit in Bucharest. Partnership of Georgia and NATO has a successful history and has a successful development. We have all the elements which are necessary for successful relationship", said the Speaker of Georgian Parliament.
Recall, on the eve, the NATO delegation, led by Secretary General of the organization's Anders Fogh Rasmussen, arrived in Tbilisi.
