The EU notes the importance of the agreements between Russia and Georgia on the WTO
The EU underlines the importance of agreement between Georgia and Russia on Russia'a WTO accession, as well efforts by Switzerland, aimed on implementation of the agreement as a mediator.
"The EU is waiting impatiently an unanimous political support on the issue of Russia's accession to the WTO at 8th Ministerial WTO Conference to be held on December 15-17 this year", "Georgia-News" quoted Commission's message.
"Russia's accession to the WTO is important in terms of multilateral and bilateral perspectives. Russia, as well as its trading partners, would get benefit from Russia's integration into the global trade relations, based on the legal system. Russia's accession to the WTO is also important for the EU - the largest trade partner of Russia. We are convinced that this step will give a powerful impetus for further development of our economic relations", said later in a statement.
"The EU recognizes the significant efforts of the Russian Federation and their partners in the negotiations to reach agreement on the most difficult issues which have been resolved in recent weeks and days. The EU also appreciates the commitment of Georgia and Russia to achieve a timely resolution of problematic issues of both sides, and we particularly welcome the efforts of Swiss Government for their important role", said in the European Commission.
