Rogozin: Rasmussen's visit to Sakartvelo is propaganda
According to Russia's permanent representative to NATO Dmitry Rogozin, the visit of NATO delegation to Georgia, headed by Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, is a propaganda.
"I have nothing to say about this. The question is: the event was gas a distinct propaganda nature, the aim of which was to convince the people of Georgia that the West in the face of NATO supports uniquely Mikhail Saakashvili", the GHN quoted words of Russian Ambassador.
"The Alliance is interested in that Georgia stay a leading supplier of cannon fodder to the "hot spots", particularly to Afghanistan", said Rogozin. Georgia is even going to increase the volume of its contingent, he said.
"Why is it important for NATO? Because Georgian troops under Afghan mujahideens' bullets - it's better than the American or British soldiers. In this sense, the West is interested in the fact that Saakashvili closes the holes in personnel of NATO troops in the most dangerous places", said Rogozin.
According to him, Tbilisi doesn't care of Georgian military losses in "hot spots" due to lack of shaped public opinion, as well as democratic opposition media, which could actively use this topic to ask the Georgian leadership questions about the meaning, motive and purpose of the Georgian presence in Afghanistan".
"The benefit of visit of NATO ambassador for Saakashvili is also quite clear", said further Russian politician. It allows you to get extra signs of legitimacy of his power, and reaffirmation of the words spoken back in Bucharest in 2008, that Georgia would one day become a member of NATO", explained Mr. Rogozin.
"In terms of real changes for NATO accession, Tbilisi has done nothing, and nothing can happen, because NATO is facing a completely unsolvable puzzle, how to solve this problem", the expert believes.
"NATO can not understand, in what borders to accept Georgia", concluded the Russian representative to NATO.
