According to a recent poll, conducted in Georgia in September 2011, 62 percent of the inhabitants of South Caucasian country consider looking for work a major problem, while 72 percent consider it the main problem area in Sakartvelo. As reported by the GHN, the poll was conducted by the National Democratic Institute.

In particular, answering the question, whether the situation with unemployment in Georgia has changed in recent years, 33 percent of respondents said that the situation has worsened, 40 percent said that the situation in this area has not changed.

"These data once again confirms that unemployment is a major problem of Georgian economy. It should be noted that 50 percent of those surveyed also believe that the situation with the level of poverty among the population has also worsened", stated the researchers in the report.

Recently, the concerns about high unemployment in Sakartvelo was expressed by the Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Georgia Edward Gardner. Despite the fact that there has been economic growth, the unemployment rate actually has not changed. And there is no downward trend in unemployment, the expert said.

The educated people live in Georgia, further stressed Gardner. However, he also identified such problems as lack of specialists for certain types of enterprises.
