Burjanadze: Condoleezza Rice has not advised Georgia to wage war with Russia
According to former Speaker of Parliament, leader of the party "Democratic Movement - United Georgia" Nino Burjanadze, the former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned Georgia that it should avoid military confrontation with Russia, reported "Georgia-News".
Thus Burjanadze commented Rice's book "No Higher Honor", in which she touched the August 2008 war: "Condoleezza Rice has virtually confirmed what I have said in several interviews, and because of what I was declared a liar and traitor of homeland. In an interview to newspaper "Alia" on March 6, 2010, I told the public about my meeting with Condoleezza Rice at the level of the Speaker of Parliament, during which she told me that Saakashvili should not yield to provocations and should prevent a military confrontation with Russia in any case", Burjanadze said.
According to Burjanadze, the U.S. Secretary of State warned that "in spite of the strategic partnership with Georgia, the U.S. won't wage a war with Russia, and Georgia will be one on one with Russia and the country will lose".
