Georgian Patriarch went to the Russian capital
Today the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church Patriarch Ilia II begins his visit to the Russian capital. As reported by the GHN, during the visit, Georgian church hierarch will participate in celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
As the Secretary of the Georgian Patriarchate Father Michael Botkoveli explained in an interview, Ilia II has long visited Moscow. As part of this trip, he will meet with representatives of Georgian and Abkhaz diaspora in Russia. Also - he will serve the Divine Liturgy in the Georgian church of St George in Moscow.
A joint prayer of the Patriarchs of Georgia and Russia is scheduled for November 20.
Recall, the previous meeting between Russian and Georgian churches took place last summer. Though, it happened not on the Russian soil, but during the visit of Ilya II to Ukraine.
