A jury court handed down its first decision in Georgia
Under the decision of Tbilisi City Court, a citizen of Georgia Revaz Demetrashvili, accused of committing a serious crime - aggravated murder and robbery, was sentenced to 14 years in prison. As reported by "Georgia-News", the court made this decision based on the recommendations of the jury.
As the Attorney Shota Tkeshelashvili explained in an interview, thus, the court concluded the consideration of the case, which concerned the murder of spouses Flora and Nash Minassian, their son Vazgen, as well disabling their daughter Gayane. The tragedy occurred in 1994.
At their meeting, held on the eve, 12 jurors recognized Demetrashvili guilty of committing this crime.
"The selection of punishment took place with the participation defense and the jurors themselves, who gave the court a recommendation to elect a minimum sentence", said Tkeshelashvili. He also added that he was not satisfied by the course of the trial.
It is worth mentioning that this crime happened 17-year ago and was discovered in early September this year.
The current trial was the first in Georgia, which was held with the participation of jurors.
