According to the Special Representative of Russian President on delimitation and demarcation of state borders with neighboring CIS countries Alexey Golovin, Russian delegation is satisfied with negotiations in Astana on the status of the Caspian Sea. As reported by Trend, Golovin said this at a press conference in the Kazakh capital. "We managed to solve a number of questions on some points, and this means that we are closer to the goal - agreement of the text of the Convention on the Status of the Caspian Sea", he stressed.

In turn, the chairman of the SOEs on the Caspian Sea under President of Turkmenistan Murad Atadjanov also praised the talks in Astana. Some issues, previously thought to be controversial, were agreed, he said.

Recall, the 30th meeting of special Working Group for the development of a Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea was held in Astana on November 22 - 23.

November 2003, the littoral states signed the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.
