Control Chamber of Georgia has identified a major waste of public funds
Specialists of the Control Chamber of Georgia has revealed the facts of misuse of public funds in a large scale as a result of a recent audit. As reported by "Georgia-News", we are talking about Georgian State program of tuberculosis treatment. This was reported by the head of the Audit Department Giorgi Alasania.
"In particular, the governing entity of the National Tuberculosis Center created and decorated the agreement with the companies they created, which have allocated 1.14 million lari (about 700 thousand dollars) from the budget during the last 3 years, for the personal financial interests", said Alasania at a briefing.
"Due to the expensive materials the cost of operations was artificially overstated, resulting misuse of 1,12 million lari (about 680 thousand dollars) from the state budget", added said the auditor.
In general, as a result of violations, misuse of public funds amounted to 2.4 million lari, said Alasania.
"The proceedings of the audit will be sent to the law enforcement agencies that will conduct activities authorized by law, basing on them", he concluded.
