Targamadze: the business must not be prevented from returning to Russia
Normalization of relations with Russia is crucial for Georgia's economic development. According to "Business-Georgia", such is the opinion of the leader of the Christian-Democratic Movement and the parliamentary minority Georgy Targamadze. He unveiled his position during the Georgian parliament debates last week. For economic development, the main condition is the investments, and the main concern of the government should be to ensure stability and security. However, according to Targamadze, the Government's development plan for coming years, which was discussed at the debate, doesn't imply it.
"If your aim is to attract more investment, it is necessary to stabilize relations with its northern neighbor and minimize risks for investors. And not contrary, as you have arranged the hysteria in the media when the Patriarch made a visit to Moscow. We have put this man in very an uncomfortable position. Such hysteria is not acceptable to address those problems which involve the creation of security guarantees for investors", said Targamadze.
He explained that after the agreement on the accession to the WTO, Russia has in fact recognized borders of Georgia. This gives the Georgians a chance to return to the Russian market. During his speech in Parliament, Targamadze urged the authorities not to prevent Georgia's local businessmen to return to the Russian market.
