Kalandadze: We do not believe in attempts to improve relations with Russia
The Georgian Foreign Ministry welcomes all attempts to resolve the conflict between Georgia and Russia, however, doubts in such a possibility in the near future. As reported by "Georgia News", this is how Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze commented recent visit of the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ilia II to Moscow at a briefing to reporters.
"It's hard to evaluate this visit, since we naturally do not take part in planning it. But if anyone can contribute to the settlement of the conflict, it is welcomed", added Kalandadze.
"... The Georgian side is skeptical about the results that we may be achieve in the near future, since the Russian side doesn't want to negotiate on these issues", explained the official.
Recall, Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II visited the Russian capital from 18 to 24 November this year. This trip was organized at the invitation of the Russian Orthodox Church and was dedicated to the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
