Merabishvili continues to open new police stations
Chief Georgian policeman - Interior Minister - opened the new police building in three villages in Samtskhe-Javakheti - Gandza, Broleti and Gorelovka. This was reported by "Georgia News" citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"This region has a low level of crime and, God forbid that our police officers have to do nothing. To date, our policemen are mainly engaged in providing assistance to the population at the time of snowfall and accidents", Merabishvili said during his speech at the opening ceremony.
As the press service explained in an interview, in the newly opened police stations in Gandza and Gorelovka there will work 9 people. Under the tutelage of office in Gandza there will be 11 villages of Ninotsminda, and in Gorelovka - 13.
In the police department in Broleti there will work 13 employees. Under their jurisdiction there will be over 27 villages of the Akhalkalaki district.
Earlier today it was reported that special department of the Interior Ministry to protect strategic pipelines was opened yesterday in southern Georgia - Akhaltsikhe, in the Armenian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti. This office will be the main in the area.
According to plans, in the new department there will work 75 police officers, specially trained to work in this area.
Their main task will be to guard oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Shahdeniz from village Sakeri to border checkpoint Vale.
