Georgian Armenians demand attention to their problems
Armenians in Georgia called the Presidents Sargsyan and Saakashvili to pay attention to the plight of the Armenian community in the country, Caucasian Knot reported.
This appeal was made on the eve of the visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to Georgia.
Today President Serzh Sargsyan arrived to Georgia for a two day official visit.
"We detected many violations of the rights of ethnic minorities (Armenians): creation of artificial barriers to education in their native language, the facts and attempt to close or not to open or classes, creating class-sets in the Armenian-sectors, unfounded dismissal of teachers, etc., reported Armenian community. Different state institutions, including the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, were informed and raised in the course of the case . The question still remains unresolved".
Also, according to the authors of the appeal, most recently in Georgia, "anti-armenian statements and actions" became more frequent
"We, the community of Armenians in Georgia, we hope that the visit of the President of Armenia will positively affect and enhance the centuries-old Georgian-Armenian friendly relations and contribute to the settlement of the above issues", stressed in the circulation.
