Appathurai: Fair elections is a pledge of Georgia's accession to NATO
Special NATO representative in the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai has made new declaration on the relations of Georgia with NATO. As reported by the GHN referring to the Armenian media, Appathurai said that he considered important to hold free and fair elections in Armenia and Georgia. NATO representative announced this position during the teleconference, organized by the NATO Information Center in Yerevan.
Conducting fair elections is important for Armenia itself. In turn, NATO can only support it in this endeavor, added Appathurai.
Speaking of the issue of Georgia's entry into the Alliance, Appathurai said that "they are making great efforts, and they have already achieved considerable success". However, according to NATO representative, parliamentary and presidential elections in this country at the proper level will be the main factor in the decision to access Sakartvelo into the Alliance.
