Alasania introduces Americans to the political situation in Georgia
Today in the U.S., former Ambassador of Georgia to the UN, the head of the party "Our Georgia - Free Democrats" Irakli Alasania is discussing the current situation in Georgia, the 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections and the role of a new figure at the political stage of Georgia - Bidzina Ivanishvili. According to "Georgia News" referring to the press service of the party, "Irakli Alasania met in Washington with the U.S. senators and congressmen. He also held meetings at the State Department, as well as spoke in the fund the "Heritage".
"At the meeting, they drew attention to Georgia's integration into the Euro-Atlantic space and also noted the importance of the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections to actually make Georgia part of the Euro-Atlantic space", explained further in the press-service.
Particular attention was paid to the new political figure of Sakartvelo - Bidzina Ivanishvili. "At the meeting, it was noted that freedom of choice should be guaranteed to everyone - to Ivanishvili and to the other opposition forces", the party's press service quoted the words of its leader.
As part of this trip to the U.S., Alasania also plans to meet with the U.S. Senators, representatives of administration of a number of states, as well as the Georgian diaspora in Washington and New York.
