Gilauri is pleased with investments in Georgia
According to the head of the Georgian government Nikoloz Gilauri, the volume of direct investments in Georgia, on the data of the third quarter of this year, totaled $ 256 million. According to him, this is a record high amount since 2008. As reported by "Georgia News", Gilauri said this during his speech at a government meeting.
According to him, these figures are very important to the economy. They indirectly indicate a high level of investor confidence in Sakartvelo.
"There is a tendency of growth, and the total figure for the first three quarters amounted to $ 633 million, which is also one of the highest rates in the region with respect to the GDP", said the Prime.
He added that the fact that these figures are fixed today, when Europe is on the brink of the next financial crisis, and investors are looking for new potential markets for their investment, is especially important.
"Exactly Georgia at this moment is one of the most attractive markets, and I hope that these investments will continue in the future and they will eventually affect the creation of jobs", said Gilauri.
Further, he cited preliminary data of the National Statistics Service of Georgia "Sakstat" (Gruzstat). According to it, in the second quarter of 2011, the volume of direct foreign investment in Georgia amounted to $ 203 million 385.2 thousand. It is 2.4 percent less than on the same period in 2010, and 17 percent more than in the first quarter of 2011.
