Exhibition of sketches of the monument to the victims of Circassians "genocide" opens
In Tbilisi, the exhibition of sketches of participants of competition to create a memorial of the victims of "genocide" of the Circassian people opens. According "Georgia News", the event will take place in the Tbilisi State Museum of Art n.a. Shalva Amiranashvili.
As the office of the State Minister for Diaspora Affairs explained in an interview, an international competition for a memorial was announced in October 2011. 29 works were received within the competition. Four participants represented the North Caucasus, three participants - from Jordan and Turkey. One contestant is the American and 17 contestants - are from Sakartvelo.
The winner, chosen by the competition committee, will receive an awards equal to $ 10 thousand.
A memorial to the victims of "genocide" of the Circassian people will be erected in the resort town of Anaklia.
Recall, the decision "to perpetuate the memory of victims of the genocide of the Circassian people" was adopted by the Georgian MPs at the end of June this year.
Georgia parliament voted for recognition of the genocide of the Circassian people in May 2011.
