Saakashvili pardoned Israeli businessmen
According to the urgent news from the administration of the head of the Georgian state, Mikhail Saakashvili made a decision to pardon Israeli businessmen Roni Fuchs and Zeev Fraenkel. This statement was made by president's spokesperson Manana Mandzhagaladze.
Recall, Fuchs and Frankel were arrested in October 2010 in Batumi. They were accused of attempt to give a bribe of $ 7 million to Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia.
April 1st this year, under the decision of Tbilisi City Court, they were found guilty of committing the crime.
Fuchs was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and a fine of 500 thousand GEL in favor of the Georgian state; Frankel - to six and a half years imprisonment and a 100,000 lari of fine.
July 28, 2011, the appeal upheld the verdict of the court of first instance. However, the convicted did not plead their guilt.
The appeal for pardon of Zeev Fraenkel and Ronnie Fuchs was sent to the head of the Georgian state on April 21 this year.
