Saakashvili met with Sarkozy
As part of the 20th Congress of the European People's Party, which was held in Marseille (France), the head of France Nicolas Sarkozy met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. As recalled by Trend, the Georgian president was in these days in this European country and participated in the Congress. At the event, the European leaders discussed the current crisis in the European Union and the issues of salvation single European currency - the euro.
Meeting with Sarkozy was held in the format "behind closed doors". Saakashvili told journalists after the meeting that French leader once again noted that Georgia should be a member of the European Union.
"Nicolas Sarkozy said that Georgia should become a member of the European Union. Untill now no one spoke about it so openly. This is the sole future of Georgia and there's no alternative", Saakashvili said.
