Sakartvelo celebrates the International Anti-Corruption Day
Today is the International Day against Corruption. As reported by "Georgia News", Georgia couldn't fail to celebrate this day. On this occasion, today grand welcome will be held in the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. As explained in an interview to the press service of the department, the organizers of this event are the Georgian Ministry of Justice, Interagency Coordinating Council for the Fight against Corruption, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the UN Development Program.
Recall, Georgia took 64th place among 182 countries in the world, receiving 4.1 points of possible 10, in the "Corruption Perceptions Index" (CPI) for 2011, released today. In the similar list last year, Sakartvelo took 64th place among 178 countries, having received from the authors of the rating the score of 3.8 points, in 2009 - 66th place with 4.1 points. The rating was released by the NGO "International transparency - Georgia".
October 31, 2003, the General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The Convention entered into force in December 2005.
