Gilauri: negotiations with the EU on free trade are very important for Georgia
According to the head of the Georgian government Nikoloz Gilauri, Georgia attaches great importance to the commencement of negotiations with the EU on free trade. According to Trend, Gilauri said this to reporters on the eve of his departure to Brussels, where today the start of negotiations of the EU-Georgia expected to be announced.
As part of this visit, the head of the Georgian Cabinet will meet with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht. Also he intends to meet with his Polish counterpart - Donald Tusk and counterpart from Moldova - Vladimir Filat.
"Georgia is a country with small economy, but the fact that the beginning of the talks is arranged with such pomp shows that the EU attaches great political importance to this", Georgian Ambassador to the EU Salome Samadashvili said on the eve of the start of negotiations.
