Onishchenko will check Georgian citrus
In a short time Russia's chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko may arrive with a visit to Sakartvelo. According to "Georgia News" with reference to RIA Novosti, during this visit, the head of Rospotrebnadzor intends to inspect Georgian products for compliance with quality for export to Russia.
Prior to this, some media reported that Onishchenko would arrive to Georgia in order to communicate with representatives of four local companies that have expressed a desire to supply the Russian market with their citrus. "I'll go there with pleasure", said the head of Rospotrebnadzor, answering a question about whether he is ready to visit Georgia. However, the travel date is not specified.
Also the head of Rospotrebnadzor said that his agency is considering the supplies of Georgian wine production to the Russian Federation, but according to him, the Georgian authorities interfere in this process. "Then why they have elected president, which prevents the leading industries from income generation and from the development?", Onishchenko said.
"If it does not work with the state, let's work with the business. We need to do another small step, to establish contact with local and national regulatory organizations", the chief sanitary doctor of Russia concluded.
Recall, the Georgian wine and mineral water is not supplied to the Russian market since 2006.
