In Geneva, they will again discuss security in the Caucasus
Today in Geneva (Switzerland), the 18th round of discussions of security in the Caucasus will take place. According to Trend, the Georgian delegation is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze. The negotiations on prevention tension in the Caucasus will include representatives of Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as the U.S., UN, EU and OSCE.
As the representative of the Georgian Foreign Ministry explained in an interview on the eve, his country would require from Russia clearance of the agreement on the nonuse of force. The Russian side requires clearance of the agreement between Tbilisi on the one hand, and Sukhum and Tskhinval, on the other hand, said Kapanadze.
It is worth mentioning that the Geneva talks were convened for the first time after the armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008 in accordance with the ceasefire agreement of 12 August the same year.
