European Commission representatives will visit Tbilisi in March
The European Commission delegation, which will clarify a number of issues related to the possible start of negotiations on visa-free regime between Europe and Sakartvelo, will visit Georgia in March 2012. As the GHN reported, such an agreement was reached yesterday in Warsaw during a meeting of the Georgian state Mikhail Saakashvili and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. Barroso decided to send a delegation to Tbilisi after the meeting. They also discussed the general situation in the Caucasus region.
"We considered different aspects of cooperation between Georgia and the EU. You know that we have started negotiations with Georgia on deep and comprehensive free trade. As you can see, between the EU and Georgia there are good relations which are experiencing significant progress", Barroso stressed.
"There is another advancement - the talks on visa-free communication will begin next year. In addition, we appreciate the fact that the question of "occupation" is an important topic at all summits and meetings. Just as it happened in the case of European Parliament resolution ... ", Saakashvili said in his reciprocal speech.
