Vashadze: Saakashvili doesn't intend to become Prime Minister
According to information announced today by Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili is not going to become prime minister after the elections. As reported by the GHN, Vashadze announced such position in an interview with the BBC Russia. It was a response to the opinion of some political analysts that Saakashvili is trying to do like Putin.
"The same people who now are speculating on the future intentions of the President of Georgia, the same people demanded to change the Constitution and turn Georgia from a super-presidential republic into a parliamentary republic", Vashadze said. " As soon as the ruling party and the government started to do it, they immediately started claim that Mikheil Saakashvili is trying on himself Putin's mask and cloak. No person in the world confirmed the president's intention to become Prime Minister. And as a member of hi team, I can state with full responsibility - this is not a part of the president's plans", the head of the Georgian Foreign Ministry concluded.
