Shevardnadze: Putin surely become president and lead Russia into the European Union
Former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze believes that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would make his country a member of the European Union in the event of his election as president.
"Despite the fact that a serious protest movement against Putin has first appeared in Russia, he for sure will be elected as president", as reported by VZGLIAD, Shevardnadze said this in an interview with the Georgian edition of "Asaval-Dasavali".
According to the former head of the Georgian state, "Russia will enter the EU with such president".
Shevardnadze also said that Russia-EU relations are formed in such a way that Moscow has far more impact on the EU, rather than vice versa.
Previously, Eduard Shevardnadze also said that for Georgia it would be advantageous if Vladimir Putin once again become the Russian president.
"Remember, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev refused to negotiate with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. Given the fact that Putin has received Georgian opposition leaders does not exclude the possibility that he would hold talks with Saakashvili", the former head of Georgia said.
He also believes that Putin is completely loyal to the Georgians.
