Irakli Okruashvili became the leader of the Georgian party
The opposition Georgian party has united with the movement "For United Georgia". Irakli Okruashvili, who lives in political exile in France, was unanimously elected its leader. Erosi Kitsmarishvili was elected its co-chairman.
"The association was created critically late for opportunity to take some strong positions in the field of opposition", the Georgian political analyst Soso Tsintsadze said in an interview to GTimes.
Recall, earlier the Georgian party was considered by experts as the largest opposition force in the country.
"After Ivanishvili has entered politics, I think, Okruashvili's no place in opposition", the political scientist told us.
The Georgian party is recently rocked by scandals, in particular, not so long ago, it was left by one of the leaders Sozar Subari. Erosi Kitsmarishvili was involved in a dispute over the TV company "Maestro".
According to Soso Tsintsadze, the Georgian party can't compete with the capabilities of oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. And Okruashvili's prospects are rather vague.
"One day Irakli Okruashvili entered the opposition first time. And that time he was a figure number one. But now his chances look bleak. Because if you look at the prospects of the opposition movement from the financial point of view, it seems senseless to compete with Ivanishvili", Tsintsadze said in an interview to GTimes.
