Journalists are going to create a special structure that will coordinate their protection from the authorities, inform the international organizations, conduct protests and issue statements and appeals.
As reported by the newspaper "VZGLIAD", December 19, all leading Tbilisi newspapers came out with the heading in Georgian and English - "President Saakashvili! Do not kill the press!"
December 28 and January 4, Tbilisi City Hall will hold the auctions on placement stalls in those locations where the newspapers used to be sold. In this regard, the old stalls were removed, it's is very difficult to buy a newspaper in Tbilisi. According to the rules of the tender, it is not necessarily to install newsstands there again, food stalls, "fast foods" and so on may be installed there.
The journalists of Tbilisi newspapers, which are very critical to the authorities, are regularly holding rallies against this state of affairs, believing that President Mikhail Saakashvili stands behind the auctions.
Today, the rally near the residence of Saakashvili in the Georgian capital, which was held during half an hour, gathered a few dozen people. They were symbolically grouped, tied themselves with stripped ribbons, thus demonstrating that TV reporters have no opportunity to work freely.
At the same time the protesters were holding banners saying "SOS", the letter "O" was stylized as the logo of the TV company.
