The action "Merci" will be held today near the French Embassy in Georgia
Assembly of Tbilisi Armenians is going to hold the action of gratitude called "Merci" near the French Embassy in Georgia today at 13:00 Georgian time, Vesti.Az reported referring to Georgian media. This is Armenians' response to the adoption of the law by National Assembly of France, which provides penalty for the denial of "Armenian genocide" in Turkey.
Armenian community of Georgia is going to sent a letter of thanks to the Ambassador of France.
The action will be attended by the members of the board of ATA, as well as other leaders of Armenian NGOs of Georgia, in particular: the Union of Armenian veterans of the Georgia, Association for the Protection of rights of Georgian Armenians, Association of Georgian Armenians "Nor Serund", Armenian Youth Center of Georgia and Public and Education Council of Armenians of Tbilisi.
As recalled by "Caucasian Knot", under the new bill, all those, who deny the Armenian Genocide in France, will face at least one year imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros. The bill will be debated in the French Senate in March next year.
December 22, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry and representatives of the Azerbaijani opposition spoke with condemning the decision of the lower chamber of the French Parliament to introduce penalties for denial of the Armenian Genocide.
