In Zhanaozen, the police is being checked
In Kazakhstan, they began official investigations against police officers acting beyond their official duties during the dispersal of riots in Zhanaozen and during which 16 people were killed, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the official site of the Prime Minister of the republic.
"There were opened three official investigation for the abuse of power by police", said in a statement.
On the eve, 16 people were arrested for involvement in the riots, the chairman of the Appeals Board of the Regional Mangistau Court Nurserik Sharipov told in the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan.
"According to article 241 part 2 of the Criminal Code - participation in the riots - the courts of Mangistau region authorized sanctions (for arrest) in respect of 16 persons", Sharipov said noting that "this case is currently under investigation" and it's early to judge about its prospects.
"The court will examine the criminal case are, the evidence collected on the case will be completely investigated and evaluated", he added.
In addition, there were detained in administrative order the persons who "were in Zhanaozen, and at the station Shetpe". "It's about attracting people to the administrative responsibility for disorderly conduct, disobeying the requirements of law enforcement officers; there took place several cases of violation of the curfew in Zhanaozen. But this is due to ignorance of local residents about the curfew", the judge explained.
In Zhanaozen, December 16, the riots occurred during which 16 people were killed and dozens were injured. In the town, dozens of buildings were burned down, property of individuals and entities, in particular cars, were destroyed. The curfew, restricted movement, ban of rallies, limited photography, video shooting and the use of copiers in the city will last till January 5.
