Georgia's annual inflation in December 2011 amounted 2%
In December 2011, the inflation rate in Georgia was 2 percent, compared with December 2010. According to Trend referring to "Gruzstat", during the 12-month period this index was mainly influenced by the change in prices in the following groups: transport - the prices rose by 14.6 percent. Accordingly, the share of the group in the annual inflation index was 1.4 percentage points. In this group, a significant increase in prices was registered for civil automobile transport - 22.4%; a subgroup of transport services - 22.12%; a subgroup of fuel and engine oil - 10%; food and soft drinks: during the reporting period the prices rose by 0, 9% and the percentage of annual inflation amounted to 0.4 percentage points; high growth of prices was registered for meat and meat products - 21.9%, milk, cheese and eggs - 6.5%, fish - 5.4%. Lower prices were recorded for fruits and grapes - 28.6%, vegetables and potatoes - 11.8%.
In December 2011, a 7.7 percent decline in prices was recorded in a group of communications, which share in the total value amounted to -0.3 percentage points, compared with the same period in 2010.
It's worth recaaling that in November this year, the annual inflation in Sakartvelo was at 1.9%. As reported by "News Georgia", such data was announced by Georgian Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri. This rate is the lowest not only in Georgia but in the whole region, he added.
