2012-01-06 17:59

Today, on Friday, January 6, Armenian army fired the positions of the National Army of Azerbaijan, located opposite, from 00:35 to 00:45 - from positions near the village of Yusifjanly in Aghdam region, from 00:37 to 00:42 - from nameless heights in Khojavend region and from positions near the village of Kuropatkino, from 1:15 to 1:25 - from positions near the village of Chilyabyurt in Terter region. According to the press service of Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, there're no casualties, reported.

According to SalamNews, the fire by Armenian troops was suppressed by return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 in connection with the territorial claims of Armenia against Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as seven adjacent districts - 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory - are under occupation of Armenian armed forces.
In May 1994 the parties reached a cease-fire agreement, and peaceful negotiations are currently being held under the auspices and co-chairmanship of Russia, France and the U.S.

Despite the resolutions on the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories, taken by the UN Security Council, Armenia doesn't hasten to liberate occupied territory, "Novosti-Azerbaijan" reported.

As a result of occupation of Azerbaijani territory about one million citizens have become displaced persons and refugees.
