Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called Washington's demands to limit contacts with Iran "ridiculous", ITAR-TASS reported.
"Today (January 9 - Ed.), Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives for a visit to Venezuela, doing us the honor. In the meantime, representatives of Washington, State Department and White House say that it is not desirable that any country draw closer to Iran", said Chavez, speaking in the program "Hello President", which is broadcasted by all the TV channels and radio stations in Venezuela.
"Obama is dealing with the problems of their country, they got a lot of them, but we are free. The peoples of Latin America will never kneel and obey the Yankees empire", said the leader of the Bolivarian revolution, referring to the U.S. president.
"They invent a version of what Iran is preparing an attack against the United States from the territory of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua", added Chavez.
