At the joint meeting the parliamentary committees on Legal Issues and Human Rights and on Civil Integration considered and approved the new Cabinet and the new governmental program.gt-en-newsitem-inside
According to Giorgi Khuroshvili, the Parliamentary Secretary of the government, the main priorities are restoration of territorial integrity and prevention of the negative effects of the global crisis.
Koba Subeliani, the candidate Minister for Refugees and Resettlement said that the major part of the August events refugees is already provided with accommodation, 400 families are still to be resettled. Accommodation for theses families is being built on the money allocated by the governments of Germany and Turkey.
Yulon Gagoshidze, the candidate State Minister for Diaspora Issues, Davit Tkeshelashvili, the candidate Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Dimitri Shashkin, the candidate Minister for Penitentiary, Probation and Legal Assistance, delivered their speeches and determined the priorities of their structures.
The parliamentary Committee for Healthcare Issues and Social Protection heard the new Cabinet and the new governmental program. The main objective of the government remains the same - "United Georgia without Poverty", Giorgi Khuroshvili stated.
Alexander Kvitashvili, the candidate Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Protection, said that in 209 the program of social assistance will be conducted according to the graded system, and the number of its beneficiaries will increase on 500 thousand people. He mentioned that the social assistance and pensions has already been increased, the gradual increase of pensions will continue. At the same time, the program implying construction of 100 hospitals, that was to be finished in end 2008, was delayed. According to Kvitashvili, it was caused by the global crisis, but the government has an alternative plan to provide construction of new hospitals.
The Georgian government promised to legitimize the accommodation the refugees obtained from the state as a temporary shelter.
The new Cabinet will be discussed at the plenary meeting of the Parliament on Friday. Let us remind, that Nikolai Gilauri was named the new PM.
