Clinton worried about Tymoshenko
Head of the Department of State Hillary Clinton promised Yulia Tymoshenko support of Washington in her letter to former prime minister. This reported by the website of the party "Bat'kovshchina" ("Fatherland)".
Hillary Clinton said the U.S. will insist on a legitimate proceeding, as well as on the release of Yulia Tymoshenko and other ex-officials.
Secretary of State stressed that "the United States are disappointed that the Court of Appeals of Kiev affirmed the sentence" with respect to the former prime minister, not having considered the question about selective nature of prosecution and justice that were raised during the trial.
"Our concern has increased because of the sudden decision to transfer you to the prison facility remote from Kiev. Especially considering the message about your health", Hillary Clinton wrote in the letter.
She assured that the U.S. will continue to "support the efforts of the Ukrainian people to turn their country into a prosperous European democracy". "Also, be sure of our disposition to hold free elections with the participation of all legitimate political parties and candidates in Ukraine. This is another critical step towards European integration and the cause which your country has successfully conducted in the past. I hope so it will be during the parliamentary elections in October", said in the letter, according to RBC.
