A major terrorist attack averted in the Gali district of Abkhazia
Officers of the Abkhaz militia prevented a major terrorist attack at the border with Georgia, Gali district. It was reported on Thursday by Voice of Russia with reference to the Emergency Department of the Republic.
"Three antitank mines TM-62 and a fragmentation directional mine MON-50 were found on the outskirts of the village Gagida (Gali District). All four mines were connected with one another by electric wire and 45 meters from the cache there was a point from where the terrorists could conceivably put them into action", the agency Interfax quoted the department's report.
According to the department, the power of explosive devices was 21 kilograms of TNT.
According to the "Vesti FM", Russian troops, guarding the Georgian-Abkhaz border, often move on the road, where explosive devices were found. Abkhazian PGO earlier stated that a criminal group, sent out from Georgia, could work in the republic.
