IAEA inspectors visit Iran in January

2012-01-13 12:41

Interfax reported referring to the Iranian newspaper "Tehran Times".

It is expected that inspectors will visit Iran in late January, but the exact date is yet to be determined.

Earlier, the European Union countries achieved principle agreement to impose an embargo on imports of crude oil from Iran. This will happen if Tehran does not begin to cooperate with the international community on the issue of its nuclear program.

As a European diplomatic source told reporters in Brussels on condition of anonymity, "an agreement in principle" on this point was achieved between the 27 EU countries, but "they would continue to work on it".

As RBC adds, citing the speech of French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, it is expected that an embargo will be officially announced at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers to be held January 30, 2012 in Brussels.

"I hope that the decision to impose an embargo will be reached", the head of the French Foreign told journalists. "We will do our best to provide our partners with alternative sources of oil".
