Lukashenko promised to reform political system in Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has promised to hold political reforms in the country after the parliamentary elections in autumn 2012, Interfax reported.
"We are now studying certain trends in the world and, of course, we will adapt and modernize our political system. After we hold parliamentary elections, I think that we should pay serious attention to political reform or reform of the political system in our country", Lukashenko said in an interview to a leading Chinese media.
"I'm talking about this for the first time, but I'm long thinking about this question and I've already discussed these issues. And we'll quietly move in this direction", BelTA quoted Lukashenko.
"The main thing is to enable people to live normally and express their opinions. The main thing is to give people the opportunity to preserve the fundamental rights which they have and are entitled to have them", said the head of state, Telegraf.by reported.
