Prokhorov: Moscow needs to improve relations with Georgia
In an interview to radio "Silver rain", businessman and presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov said that Russia needs different foreign policy. In particular, the politician believes that Moscow needs to improve relations with Georgia.
"If a country wants to be the leader in the modern world, we need to speak the language of reasonable compromise, no matter how hard it is. It is necessary to forget the resentment. If we manage to do this, the relations with Georgia would quickly normalize", Prokhorov said.
"We need to discard the past and look with fresh eyes. Issues of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are complex. It is necessary to negotiate and reach a decision", the politician said, the portal Yuga.ru reported.
Meanwhile, on the eve, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow does not intend to impede the communication of Russian and Georgian citizens, as well as sees no obstacles for the development of relations with Tbilisi, but the position of President Mikhail Saakashvili.
"If it depended on us, there are no obstacles for the development of relations in many areas", Lavrov said.
According to him, in conditions when Moscow and Tbilisi have no diplomatic relations, Russian and Georgian energy companies are cooperating, air service between the countries is expanding. "In principle, we do not want to prevent our citizens from communication", the Minister said.
