U.S. investigates DDOS-attacks on websites of Azerbaijan
The U.S. company Symantec has connected its global structure for the investigation of hacker attacks on the information resources of various agencies and community organizations in Azerbaijan carried out on Monday. This was announced on Thursday by the Director of Sales of Symantec in Kazakhstan, Central Asia and South Caucasus Alexander Yakunin. According to him, work on it is in progress, and the company has offered to take appropriate actions, which, like all security measures, are not publicized.
"This is akin to war. It is unlikely that the aggrieved side will share with the attacker side information about what steps it has taken to protect against such incidents. However, I would say that we are working and appropriate measures are taken", Day.az quoted Yakunin.
As for the rumors that the attack was carried out by a certain state, in his opinion, they are just rumors and require confirmation. "That's a big work that we lead. And, given that this information is of strategic importance, it would be closed, like in any other similar case", Yakunin said.
Hacker attacks on Azeri sites was carried out on January 16. Information resources of various agencies, public organizations and mass media, located on the servers of a computer center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and the Special State Protection Service of Azerbaijan were attacked. A total of 15 Azerbaijani websites were massed to hacker attacks. Basically we are talking about the websites of government agencies, including the Interior Ministry and the Special State Protection Service, as well as the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan" and pro-government media, the agency Regnum reported.
