Todua justified himself before Armenia
Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament Freedon Todua retracted his words about the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The night before, the Georgian newa agency Pirveli announced his denial of statement made in Baku that the "occupied lands of Azerbaijan and Georgia should be returned, because it is their land".
"I never said that in an interview to News of Armenia. I am interested in the integrity of Georgia, and I do not get involved in the affairs of other countries", "Yerkramas" quoted Todua's words.
After these words of the Georgian Vice-Speaker, the Armenian authorities have stated that if Todua would not apologize for false statements, he'd become persona non grata in Armenia. On Thursday, a diplomatic source in Yerevan announced it, ArmInfo reported.
According to the source, the announcement of Freedon Todua persona non grata may be regarded as a belated response to the announcement of the deputy of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Chairman of the Patriotic Association "Committee Javakhk" Shirak Torosyan, persona non grata in Georgia. In addition, the Armenian Foreign Ministry, has already consulted with Georgian colleagues, to resolve the problem caused by inadequate statements by the Georgian parliamentarian problem through the ambassador in Tbilisi.
On Wednesday, the deputy chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Edward Sharmazanov responded to the statement allegedly made by the Georgian Deputy Speaker, having called this statement "unrealistic and absurd". "No official of Armenia has ever made incorrect statements about the challenges of a third country", Armenia-Today quoted the words of vice-speaker of the parliament.
