Saakashvili won't challenge the citizenship of Ivanishvili's wife
The administration of President Mikhail Saakashvili won't challenge the decision of Tbilisi court on returning citizenship to the wife of the opposition Georgian billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili - Catherine Khvedelidze. This was announced by presidential spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze at a press briefing January 24, VZGLIAD reported.
On the eve, in the Court of Appeal, Ivanishvili's lawyers challenged the decision of Tbilisi court from December 27, which refused to recognize the decree of President Mikhail Saakashvili to deprive him of citizenship, illegal.
In an interview to GTimes one of the leaders of "New Rights" Manana Nachkebia stated that the party, created in Georgia by the wife of billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili Catherine Khvedelidze, has got the prospects in the parliamentary elections in the republic.
"10 months have left till the election, and everything depends on how they will act in the future", she said, adding that there are already several question the movement arising due to certain circumstances.
"Bidzina Ivanishvili can't lead a political party himself, since he's lost his Georgian citizenship. Catherine Khvedelidze becomes the head of the party only because of this. We do not know this person, so it is too early to judge. But perhaps she really has got such qualities that will help her in managing the political movement", Nachkebia said.
