In U.S., Saakashvili will meet with Obama, Biden and Bonaire
During his visit to the U.S., President Mikheil Saakashvili will meet with Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden and Speaker of the House of Representatives John Bonaire, the press speaker of the Georgian leader Manana Manjgaladze said, according to "Georgia News".
"This is not the first meeting of the presidents. It was preceded by several other meetings, but it will be the first meeting in the Oval Office as part of official visit", Manjgaladze said.
"Among the topics and issues there will be bilateral relations and international security challenges. Of course, there are topics on which the Georgian side will focus. These include issues relating to aspects of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States, the issues under the Charter - defense, security, strengthening democratic reforms, cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, culture, and deepening of relations between nations", the spokesman noted.
Saakashvili will also meet with representatives of legislative and executive authorities of the U.S., including Vice President Joseph Biden and Speaker of the House of Representatives John Bonaire.
Meeting of the Presidents of Georgia and the U.S. will be held in the White House on January 30. "The presidents will discuss the further strengthening of the US-Georgian strategic partnership and deepening cooperation in trade, tourism, energy, science, education, culture and security", "Georgia News" cited the press service.
Barack Obama will also stress the importance of US-Georgian defense cooperation and Georgia's significant contribution to international security operations in Afghanistan. In addition, the U.S. president will confirm the support for the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.
