State of emergency lifted in Egypt
The Supreme Council of the armed forces, ruling in Egypt, decided to repeal state of emergency in the republic on January 25, 2012, which operated more than 30 years.
"We have decided to repeal the state of emergency starting from the morning of January 25", the head of the Military Council, Marshal Hussein Tantawi stated. According to him, the punishment, provided by the state of emergency, will be preserved only for the crimes related to gang violence.
This expected decision is timed to the celebration of the first anniversary of the popular uprising that led to the overthrow of the regime of Hosni Mubarak, RIA Novosti reported.
