Eurovision-2012 will be held in Baku Crystal Hall
Eurovision-2012 will be held in Baku in the Concert Complex Baku Crystal Hall which is still under construction, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the official website of the international contest.
"Baku Crystal Hall is a new multi-purpose arena with expected capacity to 23 thousand spectators. Approximately 16 thousand people will be able to visit each of the three competitions of Eurovision-2012", said in a statement.
Note that the sports and concert center Baku Crystal Hall was chosen from three options proposed venue for the competition.
Construction of the complex near State Flag Square was started in September last year. Its arena can accommodate about 25 thousand people. It will be commissioned in April 2012.
"Eurovision - 2012 will be held in Baku on May 22-26, 2012. Azerbaijan has the right to host the prestigious European sinders competition after the victory of Azerbaijani duo of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (the stage name Ell&Nikki) with the pop ballad "Running Scared" at Eurovision - 2011 in the German city of Duesseldorf.
January 25, another important event was held in Baku - receiving a symbolic key of Eurovision-2012. The Mayor of Duesseldorf Dirk Elsbers will present the key to the head of executive power of Baku Hajibala Abutalibov. In addition, a presentation of logo, slogan and the concept of Eurovision - 2012 will be held today, "Aksakal" reported.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the official Azerbaijani persons. Executive director of the Eurovision Jon Ola Sand and the Director on organizational issues of the contest Sietse Bakker arrived in Baku.
