The UN Security Council will hold a closed meeting on the situation in Syria, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Reuters.
"The UN Security Council will hold closed consultations to discuss measures to be taken on the situation in Syria on Friday in New York at 15.00 (local time, Saturday, 0.00 GMT)", said on the page of French mission in the network microblog Twitter.
Meanwhile, according to an unnamed diplomatic source in the UN Security Council, at the forthcoming meeting, representatives of Morocco will circulate a draft resolution, prepared jointly by the Western countries and Arab states. This project consists an appeal of the League of Arab States (LAS) to the resignation of the head of Syria Bashar al-Assad.
Protests against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, accompanied by massive disorders and shooting are taking place in Syria for nearly ten months. According to the UN, during this time, more than five thousand people were killed in clashes with security forces.
