Lavrov not surprised from Iran's plans
Tehran's plans for the complete cessation of oil supplies from Iran to Europe before the embargo on Iranian oil by the EU will be fully in force are natural reaction to the EU sanctions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"The decision of Iran is reaction to the sanctions that the EU intends to introduce July 1. This Tehran's decision once again confirms well-known law: every action meets opposition", Lavrov said at a press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand Murray McCully .
"It won't result anything good in principle", Lavrov said.
Lavrov said that Russia has consistently advocated the position that the sanctions are counterproductive.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said the Iranian authorities intended to expand economic cooperation with Russia, the Interfax reported.
"We are grateful to Russia, since Russia has used its veto power in Syria. We believe that there is a very good opportunity for Russia and Iran to cooperate in economic sectors in Iran, Iraq and Syria", he said at the meeting with Russian Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Ivanov in Moscow.
"There are very important events in our region - this is happening in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan", the Iranian minister said.
