U.S. calls on Beijing and Moscow to change their position on Syria
U.S. permanent representative to the UN Susan Rice accused Russia and China of preventing the adoption of decisive action to end the bloodshed in Syria by the UN Security Council.
"We have all seen the consequences of neglect and inaction on the part of the UN Security Council over the past 10 months, not because a majority of council members do not want to act, this is not so, but because a couple of very powerful nations do not want take such actions", the Interfax quoted Rice's statement.
"We believe that the best option would be unanimous support for the UN Security Council, unanimous statement in support of the Arab League plan", Rogozin said.
Recall earlier today it was reported that on the eve of consideration of the resolution on Syria by the UN Security Council the United States were trying to convince Russia that in the event of adoption of the document the West would not resort to military intervention.
"U.S. diplomats are now trying to convince Russia that the purpose of action against Syria, provided by the resolution and supported by the United States, is not a justification for military action against al-Assad in the future", the Jerusalem Post reported.
