Over 70,000 subscriber are deprived of electricity in Georgia
From Wednesday, the number of subscriber, deprived of the power supply, is growing in Georgia. The accidents are connected with heavy snowfall and storm that damaged power lines in the country. As of Thursday 72,000 subscribers resided without light, the "Caucasian Knot" reported on February 2.
In previous days, January 29 and 30, due to heavy snowfall in western Georgia, the accidents occurred at power lines, resulting that another 65 thousand subscribers were left without power. February 1, Georgia power for about 27,000 subscribers were deprived of electricity.
"Unfortunately, due to deteriorating weather, the number of subscriber without electricity has increased. Currently, 64 000 526 subscribers across Georgia are without electricity. In the western part of Georgia, the problems were connected with heavy snowfall, while in Eastern Georgia - mainly due to the hurricane", RIA news led the words of the head of public relations service of the energy distribution company Energo-Pro Georgia Avtandil Dvalishvili.
The emergency power lines are under reconstruction. "While it is difficult to forecast when the electricity supply is restored, since in some places, the weather conditions do not allow carrying out appropriate work", "Georgia News" quoted Dvalishvili.
It was also reported about damage of power lines due to heavy snowfall in the region of Kakheti in the east, where 8000 subscribers are now without electricity. The company "Energodistributsiya Kakheti" is carrying out restoration work there from Thursday. "Electricity supply is expected to be restored by the end of the day", the head of department for relations with the media and public of the company Jean Didebashvili told the Information Center.
